Around

One block. One looping day. Come back around.

A returning local relives one joyful day on their old Brooklyn block — carrying memory forward each loop until the whole neighborhood glows at once.

What it is

A management game where the resource is a neighborhood.

No loot, no XP bar, no enemy. You optimize relationships and timing — and the only thing standing between you and a glowing block is your own incomplete attention.

Collecting is reconnecting

You don't gather loot — you gather people, routines, and the small knowledge of a place. Progress is intimacy, not inventory.

The loop is for savoring

Repeating the day is how you notice what you missed the first time. The reset is a second chance — never a punishment.

No villain, no fail state

Tension comes from near-misses and warmth, not threat. The whole game is the pleasure of a place becoming legible, then becoming yours.

The core loop

Live the day. Read the rhythm. Come back smarter.

Items reset each loop; memory persists. So every loop you start more fluent — until you can catch every neighbor at their perfect hour, all at once.

1
Wake at dawn
The day is yours, dawn to neon night.
2
Read the block
Mister Softee's jingle and the changing light tell the hour.
3
Be early
Catch a neighbor at exactly their moment. Timing is the game.
4
Light the block
Every well-timed connection raises Block Aliveness.
5
Come back around
Night falls — and the day begins again. You keep what you learned.

The first loop ends on a near-miss — a connection you can see but can't quite reach. You loop again not because a meter nags you, but because now you know you can catch it.

The block — eight nodes in one day

Eight neighbors. Each a character and a clock.

A real NYC crossroads of diasporas — Caribbean, West African, Puerto Rican, second-generation — used as the actual texture of a block, not decoration. Learn how their hours interlock and the whole day opens up.

Together, on your own time

Other players drift past as luminous echoes.

Everyone runs their own loop — but you see each other as soft, out-of-phase forms moving through their version of the day. The block always feels inhabited and shared, yet your loop is never disrupted. And Block Aliveness is communal, so a living world greets every returning player.
